Poem by R.M. Dolin, April 22, 2024
My Good Name
I am more than a toy
built up only to be destroyed
for your amusement.
I’ve earned the right to live
outside a world condensed
into a single room where
everyone judges me as I stand
accused, having no clue
it was you all along
orchestrating outcomes
falsely appearing as my fault.
It’s not a simple thing
restoring integrity,
nor is it easy to give someone
back their reputation
after it’s been stolen,
which leaves me to wonder,
where I go to restore
my good name.
Background poem for the novel, “The Dangling Conversation.” Kyle works through being the fall guy at work for crimes committed by those in power.
