Poem by R.M. Dolin, 2013
Four to a Flush
Everyone can be read the cards
they’re dealt but what makes
a gambler great is
pushing people with chips
and conquering them with bluffs.
Chasing cards is like
hunting pheasants with a pistol;
the likelihood events unfold as
planned is improbable.
With four to a flush,
the odds of success are scant.
The essence of you
lies in the level of knowing that
and opting to bluff, or walk away.
Only a fool moves all in
believing he’ll catch
Four to a Flush.
