Poem from Chapter 11 of the R.M. Dolin novel, "The Dangling Conversation,
Read chapter, Other chapter poem
In the mist of my moment,
rain doesn't matter anymore
than forgotten footsteps
disappearing down
uneven cobblestones
once guiding me home.
You still come to me in whispers,
crowding my need to move on,
keeping my heart
from the warmth of another.
Every streetlamp reveals a story
casting grey on shadows
that long ago fell
into cracks and crevasses
canvasing all that's been taken,
hiding things so hard to remember,
like the tenderness of
your long-ago touch.
From the R.M. Dolin novel “The Dangling Conversation.” Kyle is remembering Olivia, his wife who struggled with depression before committing suicide. Written on March 15, 2025.
