Anam Cara
You’re compassionate presence
leaves me hopeful I’ve found
my Anam Cara. Two souls journeying
beyond their two lifetimes of marginal decisions
and ill-timed moves made in haste.
As we journey together through life,
I trust you to ride each rise
in waves of shared sympatico,
and endure every fall
certain I’ll never leave.
Your joy is my joy,
your wins are my wins,
your happiness my responsibility,
your sorrows my burden
to keep sheltered from
your precious soul because
it’s the missing part of mine.
Note: Anam Cara is Celtic for “Soul Friend.” The concept of Anam Cara is that everyone has a soul friend fate promises to bring together. If two people are aware enough to appreciate their moment, and respect the magic of connecting with their Anam Cara, they’ll experience a profound physical, spiritual, and emotional bond that exceeds the potential possibilities of any other connection they’ll ever encounter.
