Watchers, Waiters, and a World in Motion

The yellow-striped hawk
dives and dips in
an insatiable drive for prey.
From high above and far removed
he hears everything,
sees even more.
He dances with diabolical delight
at the very thought
of controlling all he can.

Unlike all the others,
one forest mouse is
deceptively strong.
With practiced patience
this random rodent uses time,
the simple camouflage of forest,
and the arrogance of the hovering hawk,
to expose weaknesses and
exploit a surprise that once let loose
spirals in perpetual motion.
And so is the nature of
the dangerous repartee
between the Watchers,
the Waiters, and
a world in motion.
