Poem by R.M. Dolin, April 9, 2026
Unexamined Life
I don’t defend my choices
any more than lament
their outcomes,
but once in a while,
if you catch me on
a philosophical slant,
I’ll talk about fate
and the way it weaves
through life
with surgical certainty,
but even that requires
far too much commitment
to things I’d rather leave
unexamined.
From chapter one of the R.M. Dolin novel, “An Unsustainable life – The Book of Issac.” As a young adult, Issac’s already dealt with his share of tragedy, it’s what caused him, in many ways, to be the ne’er-do-well person he’s become. He accepts himself and is content with the outcome of his choices.
