Tzatziki Sauce

If you’ve ever had a Greek Gyro, you know how important tzatziki sauce is. Like any good cuisine there are a hosts of ways in which it can be prepared and this sauce screams experimentation. I provide the basic set up below, but feel free to allow your taste buds to play. I use this sauce in both my Meatball and my Chicken Gyros. For the meatball Gyro, I recommend the Tzatziki sauce with red chili but for the chicken Gyro use this traditional white Tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Greek yogurt (unflavored)
  • 1 Cucumber – peeled, seeds scraped, and coarsely chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves – minced
  • 1 TBL Olive oil
  • 2 TBL Fresh Dill finely chopped or 2 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp White Vinegar
  • 1 tsp fresh Lemon juice
  • Kosher salt and black pepper to taste

Process

  1. Mise en Place – measure and prepare your ingredients prior to starting.
  2. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Put in sealed container and let rest in fridge until ready to use.
