Companion poem for chapter 2 of the R.M. Dolin novel, "Trophic Cascade"
Read original poem, read chapter
Friendships are fleeting,
souls passing through
a moment briefly in sync
with a world we can't control.
How do people bond
when the goal is more
than a simple hello?
Love should last forever
but in the modern age
no one can commit
to the required sacrifice.
Perhaps a couple of words
in Spanish will do,
who can say for sure,
“puedo te amo por favor,”
or is that beyond what’s reasonable?
Abandoned roads are
the hardest to traverse,
which is why
it is wise
to have many friends.
From the R.M. Dolin novel, “Trophic Cascade.” Armando and Marcos go to Miguel’s ranch to find out what happened to the girl that was killed and to find out as much as they can about Miguel’s operation so they can shut his operation down.
