A novel concept by R.M. Dolin
Idea for Next New Novel – SUMMARY
NOAH is a self defined poet, philosopher and all together pretty smooth charmer. He’s also a failed novelist famous for missing deadlines. While his writing talents are not in dispute, his stories consistently miss the mark. Noah’s agent has decided to give him one last chance to write a marketable story, but the catch is, he has to do it in eight weeks with none of his usual excuses for extensions. Up for the challenge, Noah removes himself from distractions by going to Greenland to work in isolation.
When he inadvertently leaves his laptop open one night at the island’s only pub to take a call, a patron downloads Noah’s partially completed manuscript and before long everyone on the island has not only read the unfinished manuscript, but they also each believe they’re the inspiration behind a novel character. Determined to improve the prestige and outcome of their novel character, the islanders start changing their behaviors to redirect Noah’s story toward their version of how the novel should end. At first the islanders are subtle but become more overt when it appears Noah isn’t picking up on their suggestions. As the islanders continually devise ways to down load the latest draft, Noah catches on and that’s when the real fun starts. . .although perfecting an orchestrated outcome of his own may require more than his allotted eight weeks.
