Moments of Regret
It should not matter more,
the things we say in
moments of regret,
when weighed against
tender thoughts
and emotions
that never find
their way to you.
I cry each time I beg God
to give me back those words
that were never intended
to have the long reach of their shadow
cast clouds lingering like forever
in what once was
the world kismet meant
for us to share.
From the R.M. Dolin novel, “An Unsustainable Life – The Book of Issac.” Issac finds another cryptic poem in Uncle Darwin’s journals not knowing who it’s about or what it means. He doesn’t yet realize he’s on the same spiritual and emotional journey his Uncle once walked, just separated by a generation of different obstacles. It seems more and more to matter less and less that Darwin chose his path while Issac’s being forced against this will, which is proof the journey matters more than the catalyst.
