This recipe is for a standard Margarita on the rocks. There are so many variations of this Southwest classic there’s no point delving into it. This basic recipe is pretty standard but you are of course free to personalize.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice – trust me using fresh matters – try homemade Lime Sour Mix
- 0.75 oz Triple Sec – please tell me your using Cointreau or Grand Marnier
- Splash of Agave syrup
- Lime wedge for garnish
- Salt for rim
Process
- Mise en Place: measure and prepare your ingredients prior to starting.
- Use lime wedge to smear rim of glass with juice.
- If salting the rim, tip glass onto plate of salt to coat the rim.
- Fill Boston shaker glass with ice.
- Add all the liquid ingredients to the glass.
- Place shaker base over glass and shake for least 30 seconds or until condensation forms on the stainless steel shaker base.
- Pour cocktail into the coated glass and garnish with the lime wedge.
- Cocktail should be foamy and cloudy.
