Indecipherable dichotomies
deepen shadows
of naive steps into light,
causing even the most optimistic
to conclude evil is inevitable.
It's a long often painful process
to build, steadily inching toward perfection
with the tenderness of another's touch,
amazed how absolute life is
when viewed through
the window we construct.
If we can just get past
that very first step,
things must
naturally fall in place.
We can promenade around the plaza
but the brutal truth is
the world comes full on
causing us to forget in moments
of calm how in an instant,
everything evaporates to
shadows and darkness.
That's when you come
face-to-face with the most
unchangeable law of nature,
you absolutely can’t change
change.
