Companion poem for chapter 22 of the R.M. Dolin novel, "Trophic Cascade"
Read chapter
The way through this morass
defines darkness,
stumbling and falling,
pushed by forces
even darker then the dark,
unseen, yet too present
to be dismissed.
Most of life is lived
as a solo journey yet we crave
someone by our side,
a small but meaningfully light,
tenacious and determined,
guiding our stillness until
diminished by the dark.
In the end there is
only the end,
but I get to decide about that.
From the R.M. Dolin novel, “Trophic Cascade.” Padre convinces Jake he has to let Sympatico return to Boliva, though reluctant and distraught at the thought, Jake understands that Padre, as is usually the case, is probably right.
