Name kind of reminds you of reading a menu at Ikea right? Well this garlic and mustard spread that’s great with bread and even better with gravlox, probably predates viking Ragnar Lothbrok’s siege of Paris. Pro Tip, mastering the recipe’s pronunciation is half the challenge, but somewhere out there is a Scandinavian goddess who’ll be impressed if you do….I’m just saying…
Ingredients
- 4 oz Olive oil
- 0.25 cup Dijon mustard
- 1 TBL White or red vinegar – depends on the look you’re going for
- 3 TBL Fresh dill – chopped – it would 1 TBL dried but why
Process
- Mise en Place: Measure and prepare your ingredients prior to starting.
- Mix all the ingredients together
- Leave in fridge as least one hour, but longer is better.
Note 1: Sometimes I break with tradition and add a garlic clove, but that’s only after accepting that I’ll probably not be impressing any Scandinavian goddesses in the near future.
Note 2: A great appetizer is to put this spread on small bread squares (1″x1″) and place sliced Gravloc on top. You can top that with a caper or two if you really wan to impress your guests.
Note 3: If you want to make an interesting appetizer alternative, you can cut up Gravlox strips and mix it into the spread, or else garnish the spread with the strips.
