Poem by R.M. Dolin, January 3, 2025
I miss the sound of Sun,
the soft solitude of singing
as shadows
joyfully follow my soul.
I miss Wind and the way
I'll wander without
the weight of worry
because I'm allowed to pardon
my faux paus.
I'm sorry my love
for not loving you
enough,
but just so you know,
there's a difference between
falling short
and holding back,
and because
every tragedy needs
a villain,
every villain is a tragedy
so, paint us
in shades of me.
Poem from the R. M. Dolin novel, “An Unsustainable Life.” Issac feels guilty for ending his relationship with Gabriella. He loves her, but his love is from a life he can’t sustain. His soul senses a bourgeoning purpose beyond his next conspicuous pleasure, even as his conscious has yet to awakened to the realization Gabriella is perfect for the man he was, but for not the man he’s becoming.
