There’s a sadness you try
to hide but can't escape, causing
me to worry and invent
ways to ease your burden.
You keep me locked outside
your inner world, preventing us from diving
deeper toward each other, from
discovering a connection profound enough
to shelter you from demons.
I want to be the person you lean on
when darkness closes in,
the one you turn to for help, the one
you trust to protect and provide
your most perfect future. I want to be
the sunlight nurturing your soul.
