Companion poem for chapter 7 of the R.M. Dolin novel, "Trophic Cascade"
Read chapter
Darkness is never
really intended to be
part of our design
but without it,
how can we ever hope
to appreciate light.
Evil lurks in all men's souls
and keeping it corralled
is our apex struggle.
With convincing clarity
the naive believe
the impossible is
possible, like salvaging
someone lost
to Diablo's design.
From the R.M. Dolin novel, “Trophic Cascade.” Padre, never one to surrender the inherent goodness in life, sets up his halfway house for trafficking victims. Meanwhile, Miguel threatens Jake with violence to get Sympatico back, but Dario intervenes.
