Growing up with a chef meant the kitchen was divided, not by space or even appliances, although my Dad did has his knives no one could touch, but by cuisines of responsibility. One thing my Dad always made when a meal required it, was the cucumber salad. It’s easy to make, as long as you have all the ingredients. Like any good chef recipe, you have to feel your way through it.
Ingredients
- Cucumbers – peeled and sliced
- Sugar
- Dill
- Vinegar
- Water
- Salt and pepper
Process
- Mise en Place: Measure and prepare your ingredients prior to starting.
- Boil water and dissolve sugar to taste.
- Add vinegar to taste.
- Add dill, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Chill then add cucumbers
Note: the liquid mix should be slightly sweet but also tangy….good luck. You want enough liquid to coat the cucumbers but it’s not soup….as my Dad like’s to say.
