Home cooks are passionate about their coleslaw and will argue about the “this” and “that” of various ingredients for what should be a simple recipe. For me, the most important thing is adding celery seeds. Also be careful to remove the core from the cabbage before shredding, or you will get a much hotter and bitter outcome.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Green cabbage – finely shredded
- 2 cups Purple cabbage – finely shredded
- 1 cup Carrots – finely grated
- 4 oz Mayonnaise
- 1 TBL White vinegar
- 0.5 TBL Cider vinegar
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 0.5 tsp Celery seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Process
- Mise en Place – Measure and prepare your ingredients prior to starting.
- Combine all the dressing ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
- Add in the cabbage and carrots.
- Refrigerate at least an hour prior to serving to let ingredients integrate.
