Watchers, Waiters, and a World in Motion

The yellow-striped beltway hawk dives
and dips in its insatiable drive for prey.
From high above and far removed
he hears everything;
sees even more. He dances
with diabolical delight at
the very thought of controlling all he can.
But unlike the others, this forest mouse is
deceptively strong. With practiced patience
the trivial mouse uses
time, the simple camouflage of the forest and
the arrogance of the hovering hawk to expose
weaknesses and exploit
a surprise that once let loose spirals in perpetual motion.
And so is the nature of the dangerous repartee between
The Watchers, the Waiters and
A world in motion.
