Companion poem for chapter 23 of the R.M. Dolin novel, "What Is to Be Done"
Read chapter
A butterfly flaps its wings
and in the distance of
shadowless mist,
romantics feel
this could be their moment.
The irony of love is
that it’s more than just
a matter of the heart.
There’s history,
culture, society,
and for some religion.
There are pieces of yesterday
and an unsettled
sense of tomorrow.
There is the reality of here
and the hardship of now
felt through the filter of our past
integrated with all
those things that exist
within our imaginary world.
From the R.M. Dolin novel, “What Is to Be Done.” Not knowing Sympatico’s story and what she’s been through, Chance using the opportunity of their being alone to hit on her. In the process, the story of how Chance came to be in New Mexico is revealed.
