Poem by R.M. Dolin
La Marseilles Redux
I can almost touch
the darkness of night beside you
letting me believe
we’re still together.
Tell me you love me
in gentle whispers of why it matters.
Tell me I’ll be okay,
even though I’m far from certain.
Let me dream you are still close enough
to feel the tenderness of your touch,
even though the coldness
of my night
tells me I’m all alone.
From chapter 11 of the R.M. Dolin novel, “What Is to Be Done.” Jake had a plan, but then Padre out foxed him so now he has to bear the burden of help the woman he rescued. He’s awake before dawn spending time with Emelia, hoping she can provide guidance.
