Banishing Fear
Your intentions are pure,
yet I’m always playing
from behind. You’re afraid
to fall completely
in love; afraid of what
your Ex will say,
afraid of what
your family might think,
afraid of what
would happen if
you freed yourself
to follow your feelings.
I’m ready to ride out
your waves of trepidation
knowing you’ll eventually see
our love can banish
all your fears.
