Poems from the R.M. Dolin novel, “The Dangling Conversation”
Cause and Effect
Cause is of course
directly related to effect
but most times
it’s way more subtle.
Is the fact you slip on ice
because someone failed
to salt the sidewalk,
or because the sun’s warmth
you cherished all damn day,
melts snow that drains across concrete
turning to ice only after
things go cold?
From chapter 20 of the R.M. Dolin novel, “The Dangling Conversation.” Isabelle describes the relationship between her mom and dad that she observes while growing up.
