Dear M:
A group of gifted scientists conclude the country is in desperate need of adult intervention, especially after witnessing the chaos caused in aftermath of the release of a human engineered virus. They decide something must be done but each time they’re about to launch their coup, local matters intercede. I am seeking publication of my contemporary novel, WHAT IS TO BE DONE, complete at 96,000 words.
Jake’s a retired engineer painfully recovering from Emelia’s COVID complicated death while confronting his complicity in the development of Mind’s Eye technology, which is being exploited by national and international oligarchies to suppress individual freedom. It probably seems nonsensical that Jake and his cohort of retired scientists could challenge the evil oligarchies, but the plan they’ve hatched just may work. That is, until Sympatico storms into their lives escaping human traffickers. At a time when our nation is torn and conflicted, with chivalry at best a tired cliché, Jake and his cohort struggle to advance their ambitions while securing Sympatico’s freedom not yet realizing she holds a vital the key to their seditious success.
Set in contemporary Northern New Mexico, WHAT IS TO BE DONE, is for anyone who rallies around the heroism of ordinary people defiantly slaying dragons. The novel draws on my experiences as a Los Alamos National Laboratory weapons engineer and member of the Department of Justice Human Trafficking Task Force. The novel’s tittle is drawn from a 1901 Vladimir Lenin pamphlet exhorting citizens to advance Communism through revolution; this story however, flips that script.
Thank you for considering, WHAT IS TO BE DONE. The full manuscript is available upon request and I have excerpt chapters available on my website at rmdolin.com. I invite you to review my other novels, books and poetry and look forward to your response and to establishing a long-term partnership. Per your submission guidelines, I have attached the first five pages of my novel.
Respectfully, R. M. Dolin, Ph.D. (505) 929-9652, rdolin236@gmail.com
