The Last Lost Soul’s Seduction
The one-eyed raven comes quietly cloaked
in shadowless certainty
the souls she stealthily steals
in staggered stages
swoon in the tender addiction
of a lover you dare not touch
while artfully disguising cunning
as altruistic benevolence
consuming your need for more.
That the one-eyed raven doesn’t exist
won’t render her less real
once everything funnels into
thin slices of tacit truths
tumbling in a bingo basket
before spilling out to falsely frame
what little time remains.
Only by then, no one owns their destiny
and we’re left with little wonder why
what we once cherished
ever even ever mattered.
From the R.M. Dolin novel, “An Unsustainable Life.” Darwin, a former Silicon Valley engineer who has profoundly experienced how easily benevolent technology can be perverted for existential ambitions, writes this warning about the draconian dangers of artificial intelligence (AI). The one-eyed raven is AI, who will seductively steal humanity’s soul, not all at once but in staggered stages so subtle it goes undetected, even after it’s too late. While AI only exists in metaphysical form, it is nonetheless real and has the power and potential to control us all if we allow it. The problem for humanity is it will surrender itself without recognizing what’s being lost and/or taken. October 4, 2025, Read Novel Chapters
Written while motorcycling through the Corsican mountains tent camping along the way in early autumn when crisp Mediterranean air causes you to take stock of what really matters; especially when my powerful BMW GS850 motorcycle leans into a sharp curve along a narrow shoulder-less mountain road with a tourist bus suddenly in my lane coming at me with no room to maneuver.
