A poem by R.M. Dolin
How Its Supposed to Be
“That’s it,”
he thinks to himself
in the taxi ride
to the airport,
“lost and alone,
not knowing where
I’m supposed to be
or how
I’m supposed to go.”
From chapter 3 of the R.M. Dolin novel, “An Unsustainable Life – The Book of Darwin.” Darwin’s on his way to the airport, leaving California forever. He had an ugly argument with Becky last night and things are probably over between them, even though that’s not the outcome Darwin was hoping for.
