Home For My Heart
If I knew you’d get there
before me,
I would have hurried harder
to keep up.
But then again,
who can say about love’s
full cost of consequence
given the way things always
seem to turn out.
You weren’t the most beautiful
woman I’ve ever known,
not the best lover
I’ve been with,
but to me you were
the only woman
to ever exist.
A home for my heart,
that dear one,
when you strip away
life’s diversionary drivers,
really was
all that really ever mattered.
From the R.M. Dolin novel “An Unsustainable Life – The Book of Darwin.” Darwin struggles to understand his feelings for Anna. He accepts that he loves her but is conflicted about his ability to be in love given he has so much to atone for. September 30, 2025
Written in Corsica, France while riding my motorcycle through the mountains thinking about the woman I love and will never forget.
