Chivalry and The Lost Art of Slaying Dragons
Bitter outcomes and well worn lies
teach you not to trust
the power and promise of love,
but all I ask dear one,
is for you to look one last time
past the parts of me so easily unseen
to the sanguine soul of a warrior
who’s slayed many dragons,
to the tired man standing before you
vowing with the courage of commitment
to always protect you from
the ugliness of the world
so your radiant beauty
can rest in peaceful perfection.
