I still taste the tenderness of you,
memories seeping through my solitude
draw me back to precious times together.
I know and accept we'll never
see each other again,
which does little to reset suns
permanently positioned below my horizon.
Life speaks to me in riddles,
but not rhymes or rhythms,
Still the same, I get what
she's saying, what my take-away's
supposed to be. The solitude of silence,
the place fate's been patiently waiting.
Background poem for the novel, “The Dangling Conversation.” Kyle is no longer bound by the suffocating shackles of real reality even as he accepts fate casts him alone to suffer in silence to a world that will never have a Nadia.
