Bourbon Etiquette
The stillness of dawn,
like the quietness of snow,
elevates the soul’s desire
for something different.
A frustration deep inside
that can’t be calmed.
Those who fear
drink to forget.
Those with loss
drink to remember.
Men build their mosaic
on scars caused by both.
Bourbon embraces the finality
of our past,
accepting right now
with dignity,
while possessing the courage
to challenge events
long-ago cast by forces
too powerful to overcome.
I take Bourbon straight,
like life,
it needs to be experienced
full on and unfiltered.
