A poem by R.M. Dolin
Point of No Return
It would be nice if things
were so simple,
but you know how it is,
something like that starts
with something small
igniting the something big
that’s been silently dormant
for too long.
Words get said,
feelings are hurt,
before you even realize
the intensity of things are imploding,
you’ve past
the point of no return.
Left where
you always are,
two bloodied boxers
waiting in your corner
for the next bell to ring.
From chapter 18 of the R.M. Dolin novel, “An Unsustainable Life – The Book of Darwin.” Anna explains to Darwin how a disagreement with her dad resulted in six years of estrangement.
