Poems from the R.M. Dolin novel, “The Dangling Conversation”
Every Pot Looks Hot
I have this fear,
it has no basis
but it’s as real as a rock.
It’s the fear that
anyone I love
is eventually going to walk out.
I know logically it’s illogical,
the aftermath of a history
built on bad outcomes,
but you burn your hand
often enough on a hot pot
and pretty soon
every pot looks hot.
From chapter 5 of the R.M. Dolin novel, “The Dangling Conversation.” Isabelle describes her relationship fears.
